IDC Names Bluerock TMS a Major Player in Its 2026 MarketScape
4:35

Bluerock TMS has been recognized as a Major Player in IDC's 2026 MarketScape for worldwide transportation management systems applications. For a company that has spent much of the past decade building outside the traditional TMS mainstream, external recognition of this kind marks a meaningful milestone.

IDC's analysis focuses on a distinction we consider central to how Bluerock is built: the difference between optimizing a plan and executing it. Many transportation management platforms are strong at the former — calculating the most efficient route, rate, or schedule. Fewer are built to keep that plan connected to what happens next, once it reaches the road, the dock, or the yard. IDC's assessment describes Bluerock's approach to fusing orchestration and execution as a specific strength, and it reflects a distinction we've worked deliberately toward.

"They create a competitive moat by fusing orchestration and execution that dissolves the gap between planning and action, ensuring strategic intent translates instantly into operational reality."

What did IDC recognize in Bluerock's 2026 MarketScape?

IDC's report highlights four specific strengths:

  • Domain pedigree — built by people with direct logistics experience, with operational logic embedded in the architecture rather than layered on afterward
  • Platform breadth — multimodal planning, execution, freight settlement, and fleet management, spanning last mile, LTL, and FTL within a single platform
  • Native yard management — an operational layer many pure-routing TMS platforms don't offer natively
  • Digital-twin scenario simulation — letting teams test network strategies before committing to them

"Bluerock's Network Orchestrator and Composer planning tool, plus scenario simulation and digital-twin-style capabilities, put it ahead of older-generation platforms."

Where Is Bluerock TMS Still Improving, According to IDC?

IDC's assessment is not uncritical, and it's worth engaging with directly rather than simply accepting it. The report notes that Bluerock is still perceived primarily as a European vendor, despite growing traction in North America and the Middle East.

It's worth noting that this recognition comes on the back of six consecutive years in Gartner's Magic Quadrant (2021–2026), earned largely from a European base — without the scale of local presence that larger competitors have built in North America. Earning recognition from two independent analyst firms ahead of that expansion speaks to the strength of the platform itself, and we're very proud of this.

We recognize the opportunity ahead: expanding our presence in North America and the Middle East, and continuing to tighten integration between the platform's own modules, an area customers have also asked us to keep improving, are both active priorities.

"This kind of recognition matters most because it reflects choices we made deliberately, not by accident," said Rico van Leuken, CEO of Bluerock TMS. "We built Bluerock around the idea that planning and execution can't be treated as separate problems. IDC's assessment tells us that approach is being recognized in the market, and it also tells us clearly where we still need to grow."
